Odin - with his pair of ravens Huginn and Munnin - disguised as the "Wanderer" with long beard, hat and staff. I made the staff to look more like Odin's spear - Gungnir - and since Odin is related to the writing form (he discovered the runes) I thought it would be interesting to make the spear tip to look like a pointed nib.

Thor, the god of thunder. There are many possibilities to depict Thor but it was important to include his three most important possessions: Jarngreipr (the Iron Gloves), Megingjord (the Power-Belt) and - of course! - the mighty hammer Mjollnir. Here, Thor is wearing a full wedding dress (with bridal head-dress) because it is from a scene of the "Theft of Mjollnir" tale. This is the moment when Thor recovers his hammer and tears his disguise revealing his true identity to Thrymr, the King of Giants. After that he gladly proceed to smash Thrymr's skull. And after that he killed Thrymr's sister. Oh, and he also destroyed Thrymr's soldiers. In fact, he killed everyone attending the wedding...

He has an interesting scarred lips (Loki had his lips stitched up once). Since he is an "outsider", always creating problems and provoking the other asgardian gods, I choose to put him in those strange clothes and in a totally non-dynamic pose (if compared with Odin and Thor). And the gesture of lifting his tunic and pissing on the floor, as if he's trying to ruin the "picture". He is a trickster, after all. Here you can see the "censored" version :0)

It's a kind of fantasy/dream scene, and if you take a closer look you will notice that the characters are carring paper related products, such as brochures, calendars, paper bags, and so on...

A man in boring office finds a little solace listening to a girl playing citar in busy city. I wanted to depict a moment of peace in the middle of urban chaos. Life in the big city can be so crazy sometimes and that's why I choose to depict the vehicles as those strange two-legged walkers (I call them "Rotocars") as they look like noisy and clumsy things to have around...

Butterfly Boat

The original concept was to render a kind of "Solar Sail Ship", a space ship able to use the solar wind to between planets. The bubble-cabins could be detachable so when the butterfly ship lands in a planet, it actually does it on the sea surface and the cabins could go off and move around like little submarines.

In the end, I decided to make the design of the boat more distinc (In my original sketches it look more like a cross between upsided down ship and xmas balls...). And the thought of a space ship survived after some fashion... Now the Butterfly Ship goes through a more fantasy, dream-like idea of the outer space: If it were the real space, the sails would have to be a lot more bigger!

Here a man leaves his mates (and his known world) behind and decides to live with his darling, even knowing it's a mermaid! It's going to be a difficult relationship but hopefully things will work out... Sometimes you just have to take the risk to get the reward...

This is another illustration with a ship on it... A friend of mine said that this image is about getting married... Isn't that odd?

Corel Draw was used to create the figures and Photoshop to add colors and textures.

I wanted to create a soft and romantic feel though the theme here is sci-fi related: cloning. It's not clear if the other 14 girls are really clones (Dolly style) or cyborgs (Ghost In The Shell style)... Anyway, I doubt that we will see human cloning in a near future and if someday we going to have a positive attitude (like the guy in this illustration has) toward creating copies (organic or mechanic) of a human being.

The style here is the same of previous works, like Lighthouse Battles, using vector drawing and a final touch with Photoshop.

Gladiators (A Vertical Racing)

I was looking for a some kind of chaotic scene to draw and I wanted to create a llustration inspired in images like Ben Hur's carriot race... Also, I had this tiltle in mind: "Vertical Racing"... Here we have those two gladiators/racers (The only way I could find to justify the term "Vertical Racing" was putting them riding on mechanical spiders... Originally, I wanted them to be grasshoppers ) in a violent collision...

The spider design was created with bikes in mind. They're spider-bikes so to speak... I imagine the race taking place in a complex of vertical tunnels made of web-like cables where the riders could run and beat each other for the pleasure of the audience...

ANNOUNCER: "Hummmm... Rider #5 is holding a Morning Star but Rider #99 seems to have lost his weapon (that's why he uses his own bike to block #5's way...?)...Or maybe Rider #99 is just a awful rider and Rider #5 is about to teach him to pay more attention on the road...!"

Anyway... I used Corel Draw (with a little help from 3ds max) and Photoshop. I hope you like it...!

Lighthouse Battles

An old and abandoned lighthouse is now a place for epic battles in the mind of a little boy. Some times the lighthouse takes the role of a monster as you can see here.

The theme here - similar to "Summerhouse" - is the way the new generations build their own world over the ruins of the old. That lighthouse was useful once but now is only a desert place... in an adult's perspective of course!

"Summerhouse" was a very relaxed image but for this one I was looking for a more dynamic composition... That's why the scene uses this crazy perspective.

The perspective was created with a little help of 3ds max: I did a (very simple) dummy model of the scenario and choose a camera angle. I used CorelDraw to... well draw and Photoshop for the colors.
